End of week 2 and on to week 3 (days 13,14 &15)
We stayed at Green Turtle Marina for 2 nights and had a great time! We attended the parade, had some fair food, and rented a golf cart to explore the area. It's a town of 350 people but between Paddies (the restaurant that is also a mini put golf, many different little shops, a theatre, and half the land in town) and the Green Turtle Marina, they have people coming from all over the states. Quite an accomplishment for a small town! We had a couple of great meals and experienced dry county living. The restaurants have lockers for the locals to store their alcohol so they can have it on hand when they have dinner and it looked like a library with ladders and lockers from floor to ceiling. When you check in they take your bottle, put your name on it and deliver it to your table when you ask for it! After having everything cleaned and fridge restocked we left for the next adventure. We traveled thru Kentucky Lake, which is part of the the Tennessee River. Kentucky lake is almost 200 miles long and average depth of 70-80 feet. We anchored out by New Concorde, Kentucky. We had Kentucky on one side of the river and Tennessee on the other. What a beautiful ride this has been and our anchor spot was remote, calm, and peaceful. We had a great meal on the grill, with our new boat friends. I guess it's time we give them names! I hate to mention names without permission so I asked last night! They said "yes" but we have decided to use pseudo names! So we will call him Collar (his collars are always needing adjusting) and we will call her Airforce Annie (she was in the Scottish Air Force)though she would prefer "She Captain" (she has her license). We took the dinghy's out for a cocktail ride and again for a midnight moonlight ride. Such a peaceful night! This morning we started our 3rd week! It seems like we have been gone for a very long time but at the same time, it feels like we just started this journey! I can't imagine better travel companions. We have known each other for 28 years and have been great friends thru all those years and know each other well enough to deal with our unique quirks! We have had our moments, but when it's done we move forward and enjoy each other and whatever the day may bring! Tomorrow I will tell you about a few of the people we have met along the way but for now we are at our next destination and we need to settle in for the night! Back tomorrow!

Week2 days 4&5
Well because we are posting means...WE MADE IT! We got thru what was our biggest challenge so far. We had a lot of barge traffic. And they were big barges! Listening to barge Captains on the radio is always a chuckle! They ALL have VERY deep southern accents and speak in their own language and extremely hard to understand! Kind of like being stuck in a McDonalds drive thru! Which reminds me we are all excited to have our next McDonalds meal! We have been on new lock and dams and have now been in one that we had the rope and went up instead of being on the drop side. We also were in a 57 foot lock and it was errie being "swallowed up" by the walls and doors and after a fast elevation being spit out at the top of the dam! We ended up going thru a lock and talking to the lock master...the 2nd women we have encountered...and heard about a dock in Peducah, Kentucky that we might be able to stay at for the night. We got there around 5:30 and found a public dock with 3 local fishermen on it and pulled in. They helped us with our ropes and we tied up for the night! What a little piece of heaven for us! It not only meant we didn't have to anchor out BUT it also meant our feet could touch land! Judy and I decided to walk into the riverfront area and check things out while the boys got us tied up! We were happily surprised with the cute mural flood wall and all the cute restaurants! Executive decision made....clean up and come back for dinner! Best part we all got showers on the boat!! Not showering for a few days makes you really appreciate the opportunity to feel clean again. We ate at Max's and had a fabulous anniversary dinner with our traveling friends! Thank you Jim and Judy for a great anniversary! Judy and I had planned a pork chop dinner so we put in the fridge and at 7am the next day we pulled out the grill and had a delicious breakfast of grilled pork chops and cabbage salad. We have truly settled into lower expectations of meals when traveling by boat though our clothes keep getting tighter! Sandwiches have turned gourmet! We add anything we find in the fridge and are thinking of opening a sandwich shop when this is done! We arrived at our destination with very little gas to spare! BUT, we got here. We are at Green Turtle Bay Marina and are very pleasantly surprised! It is one of the ones that are highlighted in boating magazines! We have clean modern shower and laundry facilities, a restaurant, spa, shops, GAS, water and power....how could live get better!!! We are in Grand River, Kentucky and today they have a Hunter's Moon Festival we will be attending! We are now in a dry county thouh you can get moonshine and bring your own booze anywhere! A real challenge for us but one we think we can possibly handle! Thanks to our faithful Tervis tumblers! We have the boat cleaned inside and out and have CLEAN sheets on the beds again after 2 weeks! Should make for a great night's sleep! Gotta run so we can have some fun! Talk to you tomorrow!!
